Vancouver: A Season For Every Purpose

I'm still in Van; the trip's almost over and although muddled and largely confusing, I have notes. On Americans and the "Z" axis, ex-girlfriends and the draft. There will be stories to tell. Grandchildren will be delighted. This would, indeed, be a trip to remember. Contemplating, I concluded, this morning, sipping on something warm, overlooking a tree, from a far up window with the sunshine sifting in, that although this is a town has palm trees, it has no tunnels. It must be reassuring to live in a city where you never get followed. And if you think you might be, you can always take the sewers.

See you on the other side of the globe, everyone.

Ottawa Meets It's Match in Vancouver: A Six-Day Romp

Hey everyone, your friendly neighbourhood S* reporting live, from Canada's very own Amsterdam: Vancouver.

I'm currently in VanCity and am truly having what experts sometimes call a (wait for it...) "blast." Did you know that traffic actually stops for the pedestrians in this city!? I'm still in my own country and I'm feeling the daily tide of culture shock. It truly blows me away and the waves feel great.

I jogged around the Seawall two days ago and couldn't believe how both inviting and menacing the ocean and forest are. Cliff faces tower above -- their sense of imminence diluted only by brushing breezes and soft foliage, tumbling down the sides. The colours of this landscape lavishly melt into one another and remain inviting to the gazers and daydreamers, drawn in by it's siren's song.

At any rate, the good Doctor and I have been pounded and flying every night since my arrival. It's been a madhouse -- mind you, neither one of us has yet to succumb to "the fear," so I wouldn't be worried for us.

With hugs and love from the West Coast, this is your friendly neighbourhood Esstar signing off. Just remember to keep your eyes fixed on the pictures and colours, flying through the air.

Czeching it live from Vancouver,

S*
